Kundli Manesar Palwal (KMP) Expressway, Haryana: Route Details, Location, Length, Toll Fee, Speed Limit and FAQ

The KMP Expressway, officially the Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE), is a 135.6 km, 6-lane, access-controlled highway in Haryana. It forms a semi-circular bypass around the western boundary of Delhi, letting through traffic avoid the capital. It was developed by HSIIDC (Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation) under a Build-Operate-Transfer model. It is reported to divert over 50,000 heavy vehicles a day from Delhi. Together with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (KGP), which opened in May 2018, it completes a roughly 270 km ring road around Delhi.

Location and route details

The expressway runs entirely within Haryana, arcing along Delhi’s western edge from Kundli in the north to Palwal in the south. Key interchanges and exits include:

  • Kundli (NH-44, toward Sonipat, Panipat and Delhi)
  • Kharkhoda (Kharkhoda IMT industrial hub)
  • Bahadurgarh North (Rohtak Road, NH-9) and Bahadurgarh South
  • Badli (Jhajjar-Gurugram state highway)
  • Panchgaon/Farrukhnagar (Sultanpur National Park)
  • Manesar
  • Places along the southern section include Sohna, Nuh and Hathin, ending at Palwal.

It intersects the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway at the Khalilpur interchange in Nuh district.

Length

The expressway is 135.6 km long. The Manesar-Palwal section is about 53 km and the Kundli-Manesar section is roughly 83 km.

Speed limit

Limits differ by section. Reported limits on Manesar-Palwal are 120 km/h for cars and 100 km/h for trucks. On the 83 km Kundli-Manesar section they are lower, 80 km/h for light vehicles and 60 km/h for heavy vehicles, because of a higher incidence of accidents there. Follow posted signs, since limits can be revised.

Toll fee

A 2026 source puts the car rate at ₹1.35 per km with FASTag and ₹2.70 per km without. At that rate, a full-length car trip would be roughly ₹180, which is my own arithmetic from the per-km figure. Actual charges depend on where you enter and exit, and the 2018 launch rates were higher, so figures vary between sources. At launch, trucks and buses paid ₹4.57 per km, multi-axle vehicles ₹4.98 per km and oversized vehicles up to ₹8.72 per km, and those have likely been revised since. One guide says local residents within 20 km can get a monthly pass for ₹350. Confirm current rates with HSIIDC or at the plaza before traveling. A 2018 report listed seven toll plazas: Abbaspur, Pipli, Mandholi, Badli, Sultanpur, Patli-Hazipur and Mokalwas, but a newer guide describes 10 interchanges with toll gates, so the setup may have changed.
